Michael Yendick
Our fellow brother, and friend, Mike passed away from Colon Cancer in 2000. Mike was a true mentsch, and his memory lives on in all who knew him. His family established the Michael Yendick Foundation for Children, in 2001, and it continues strong to this day. The foundation is dedicated towards improving the lives of children, including the establishment of a summer camp devoted to children who suffer from Crohn's Disease, and Ulcerative Colitis. The annual Golf Classic to support this amazing charity continues yearly. Mike was born and raised in Livonia, and made many friends in his short life. Myself personally, and those of us who grew up with and played ball here with Mike, look back with incredible memories of the man who would do anything for his family and friends. Mike has a daughter, Taylor. AL Yendick, Mike's father, has been a lifetime B'nai B'rith member, and is one of the genuinely nice men you'll ever meet. Al and his wife Bernice, annually present the Award honoring their son Mike, to a deserving player each summer. Below... The photo is of our litle league baseball team from the summer of 1973...when Mike and I were barely 10 years old. Al was the coach. I'm personally honored to have helped start this award, and to have called Mike a good friend. I feel the same about his father Al.
